General Information

What to expect: Well-heeled travelers find a personal touch at this row of 19th-century former townhouses, transformed into a luxury hotel in 1991 and renovated in 2001–2004. The decor mixes English drawing-room style with a modern, uncluttered layout. Chamber music wafts through the sedate and spacious new lobby, with its fluted white columns, delicate floral drapes, and busts of Belgian royalty.

Amenity highlights: Serving modern European haute cuisine, the Restaurant Brighton was inspired by the opulent Banqueting Room of the 19th-century Royal Pavilion in Brighton, England. Weather permitting, guests dine in the garden courtyard beneath a century-old magnolia tree. Off the lobby, the Library Bar is an intimate retreat with fireplace, leather seating, polished-oak bar, and bookcases.

Insider tip: Antique hunters head to the Avenue du Grand Sablon, one km (a half-mile) from the hotel. On weekends, street markets sell collectable coins, stamps, and art. Shoppers should arrive by late morning for the best selection.
